Fat bikes were originally designed for gliding across snow covered trails, but soon caught the eye of explorers worldwide looking for new and exciting ways to exercise.

Today, the fat-bike trend rages on and is catching the attention of everyone in the biking community, including both startup and global brands. While the proportions of a fat bike may be humorous, one ride will surely give you an understanding of the appeal. Simply put, larger tires create a larger contact area, increasing traction on slippery or loose surfaces. Additionally, the large air volume and resulting low air pressure create a “floating effect” where the rider is easily able to glide over almost any terrain that a normal bike would deem impossible.
